A couple weeks ago, I sent an e-mail to the head of the Humanities department to express how I felt about the recent lectures. I asked if all lectures would end with some sort of anti-Republican message.
I said that I understood that this is a college where most students and teachers are Democrats, but should each lecture end with biased political commentary?
The previous two lectures I had attended were concluded with George Bush, Sen.

The Council of Student Leaders met Monday night to discuss plans and a timeline for upcoming events, but no students outside of the council attended the meeting.
Low turnout is not uncommon each Monday night as CSL and its adviser, Dean of Students Bethany Marlowe, meet every week to discuss student affairs and issues on campus.

Sen. Barack Obama spoke Sunday at Asheville High School to an estimated crowd of 28,000 people, a day after telling The Blue Banner he thinks he can win North Carolina and young voters may decide the election.
"It's going to be a hard-fought contest. Western North Carolina is traditionally more Republican, but I think that people are looking at the catastrophic situation on Wall Street and how it's spilling onto Main Street," Obama said when questioned by the Banner on a conference call for student journalists.

On Oct. 9, 2007, the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at an all-time high of 14,164.53.
364 days, two collapsed investment banks and one bailout later, the Dow is trading under 10,000 - in four figures for the first time since 2004. Despite the headlines, students aren't feeling the heat from lenders and employers - yet.

After the selection of Gov. Sarah Palin as the VP hopeful for the Republicans, I commented that, regardless of how this turned out, her name on the ticket would make things exciting.

Is it easy to be gay at Davidson? With several gay members in all kinds of student organizations, one might say that gay is the new black - highly in fashion and widely accepted. As of late though, I would tend to disagree.
A recent episode involving the verbal harassment of a gay individual gained minimal attention from the administration and was barely mentioned amongst the student body.

The defenseman zips the ball to a forward on a crisp outlet pass. After only a brief dribble, the forward feathers a cross to a teammate streaking toward the goal, who angles the ball into the corner of the net for the game's first score.
Sounds pretty exciting, right? Well, you might be surprised at the origin of that stirring sequence.

I plan on sleeping through my entire fall break.
Maybe I'll wake up long enough to watch a movie or read a book (for pleasure!), but generally, my time off will be nothing but relaxation on the Davidson campus.
For those of you who are also sticking around the Davidson area, there's plenty you can do to erase the mental stress of life on campus and rejuvenate your mind and body for the final eight weeks of first semester.

The concern that there are no retail food establishments within walking distance of campus has been the debate among ABAC staff for about a year now. After deciding that late night food on campus was the obvious answer, the only problem left was deciding what type of food would be available.

I've learned my scheduling abilities over the past three years not from high school but from CBS. Over the last three years, I've somehow managed to arrange my already rigorous schedule based not around school or softball but around the CBS crime dramas. I came to find out, however, that I certainly wasn't the only one to do such a thing.

Many college students who move to a new area, such as Savannah, may wonder where they can get a good meal that is affordable.
Although most students who live on campus have a meal plan, students often want cafeteria food that meets the quality and characteristics of a good meal.
